Raytheon Joins Hosted Payload Alliance

DEERFIELD, IL – February 2, 2012 – Raytheon Company has joined the Hosted Payload Alliance (HPA) as an Executive Member. Raytheon will have a seat on the 2012 HPA Board of Directors, the Alliance’s governing body.

Raytheon joins HPA member companies Arianespace, ATK Space Systems, Boeing, EADS North America, Harris, Intelsat, Iridium, Lockheed Martin, Orbital, SES, and Space Systems/Loral as the 12 Executive Board members. HPA represents satellite operators, satellite manufacturers, system integrators and launch service providers, as well as other interested parties.

Mr. Ronald Stopher, Raytheon Space Systems’ Director of Strategy and Business Development, will serve as the company’s primary representative to HPA. “There’s an appetite for more space solutions and hosted payloads are critical for our community and business,” Mr. Stopher said. ”Raytheon wants to add a voice to the discussions regarding the benefits of hosted government payloads and the collection and dissemination of data.”

“Raytheon’s proven track record of solving problems via space-based solutions will contribute to the advancement of hosted payloads and the Alliance as an emerging trade and member association,” said HPA chairman Don Thoma.

HPA is a nonprofit satellite industry association established to serve as a bridge between government and private industry, fostering open communication between potential users and providers of hosted payload capabilities. HPA focuses on education, awareness and developing solutions to common challenges.
